Master's in Musicology from University of Amsterdam and a Post graduate diploma holder in Indian Classical Music, Sanjeevani has been practising as an educator since 2014. She received teacher training and leadership development under Teach for India. With her versatile approach combining music/arts education with personal development, she has been designing and facilitating unique learning experiences for children, youth, and adults. You may have heard the term ‘mindfulness’ before. Or whenever situations have gone out of control causing extreme frustration, you may have heard this advice – “just be”. But how many of you know what it really means? To just be?

 

Theoretically, mindfulness means having full awareness of the present moment, to be fully aware of the senses. It was first introduced as a meditative breathing practice in the 1970s by a Buddhist monk. Due to increasing mental health issues in current times, it has got more attention. There are many articles and books published on the topic.

 

However, not everyone can relate to the process of meditation. For many, it feels complicated and boring. But what if there was a much interesting alternative?

 

In this workshop, I will introduce a simple, fun, and very effective musical method to understand and practice mindfulness. You can easily make it a part of your daily life and the results will astonish you.

Required Materials/Equipment:

  • Pen/pencil;
  • Paper/diary;
