Our review

At Bodhiroom, we were shocked to learn that Asafoetida or more commonly known as Heeng/Hing in India is a spice that is not produced in the country! Yes, this unusual spice is harvested from the sap of an even more unusual flower that grows in dry, cool desert environs such as Iran. Recently the plant made news as a team grew the plant in Lahaul (Himachal Pradesh) which has a climate similar to that found in Iran and Afghanistan.

Pros:

+ Takes a timely and Indian perspective on what is the ultimate Indian spice

+ Feels like a celebration and homecoming of the spice

+ Visuals are apt and interesting

+ Subtitles are available

Cons:

– The audio quality was a bit scratchy in places.

– The video was more of a celebration about India’s efforts to grow the plan than to delve into interesting facts about it.
